Wedding Anniversary in Montenegro

Montenegro has been on our radar for a while. So we booked well in advance for a 5 day trip this year to celebrate a family get together on our wedding anniversary. We stayed in a one bedroom appartment on the Moscow street, in Orakhava on the Kotor Bay of Adriatic sea. We were initially a bit sceptical as Orakhava is a little away from Kotor the main tourist destination. We later discovered that it is quite ideally located between Kotor and Perast, in fact closer to Perast which was a 7-10 minutes ride by taxi costing just 5 Euros. Kotor is quite crowded as it is the destination port for the giant cruise ships. But we found Perast an idyllic place to relax and enjoy. We past through Budva on the way but did not spend any time there. Kotor has the history, Perast has some too, the other places are pretty much the same with beaches, hotels and restuarants.

There are two sides to Montenegro. The little towns skirting the beautiful Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic, and , the mountains with beautiful lakes. Both are beautiful, but the coastal side draws you more if you are in the mood to relax and enjoy. The interior mountain side has a bit more rugged landscape. In this trip we spent most of time in the coastal side taking in the beautiful sight of the eastern Adriatic.
